Iran is willing to restart atomic talks with Washington as long as it is handled with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has stated.

The Iranian diplomat said only diplomacy worked, and disclosed recent overtures had been made by mediators to restart discussions with the US government. He said Iran did not have secret atomic facilities, and Iran could not yet authorize the global atomic watchdog to visit bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.

Navigating a Complex Path

The foreign minister is treading a difficult path since Iran aims to avoid be perceived to be proceeding from a position of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had arisen more powerful defensively and mentally from the Israeli-US attack on its nuclear sites in June.

He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he restated that Iran had "an inalienable right to refine atomic fuel on home soil that it will never give up" – the main reason of the impasse in the prior discussions.

Previous Discussions Abruptly Terminated

The prior phases of discussions between the United States and Iran were ended suddenly and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, targeted Tehran's atomic facilities in a 12-day war that culminated with the American leader claiming the locations had been eliminated. Following this, Western states employed their privilege to reinstate UN-wide sanctions, but Iran asserts they have not had a major impact.

Perfect Agreement Suggested

Iranian officials said they felt they had reached a "ideal resolution" to the uranium processing matter in previous talks, when it was decided an domestic cooperative with US participation could refine atomic fuel. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the discussions that American atomic experts could work within Iranian territory, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Diplomats stated on multiple occasions they had secured an understanding with Trump's special envoy the US official only for the deal to fall apart due to "detractors in America".

Current Situation

Iranian officials stated the consortium offer was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the offer could be resurrected in various formats if discussions resume.

In his speech to the gathering, intended to paint the US as a dominant force that abuses the notion of global regulations, Araghchi declared the two-week conflict revealed the conflict could not be ended by combat operations. He said the assaults began with a Washington's ultimatum for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an unconditional call for a halt to hostilities.

Iran is certain the first strikes by Israel were mounted with complete American awareness and cooperation, making trust challenging to rebuild.

Dialogue Stays the Ultimate Solution

The foreign minister stated: "It was not Iran that had abandoned dialogue; it was America and the western countries that had always sought to enforce their desires during the negotiations. Dialogue can still be active and stays the final solution to address conflicts, but its standards, guidelines and fundamentals must be respected."

"In case they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the language of dignity and honor, they will receive a response in the same language."

Restoration and Reconstruction

In what is described by Tehran representatives as the struggle of recovery and rebuilding, Araghchi said he was assured Iran's security strengths "are much stronger than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been restored. We gained numerous insights from this engagement; we have discovered our personal limitations and the weaknesses of the opponent."

He added: "We successfully passed this conflict. Our nuclear technology, which they intended to destroy, stays intact. The installations and equipment, if destroyed, will be rebuilt; what is essential is the resolve of the nation of Iran and then the unity of the country that they targeted, but were unable to destroy. The nation of Iran have become more powerful, more integrated, and more backing of the government and the country in the face of this assault."
