Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the group access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
